I just wanted to write a short post about how much I LOVE Daily 5! It was created by "The Sisters" Joan and Gail. Basically, it is a series of literacy tasks the students work on while the teachers meet in small groups! The beauty of it is the philosophy behind the structure that systematically trains your students to be engaged in each of the 5 components. ENGAGED?... YES ENGAGED and INDEPENDENTLY! Miracles do happen my friend!
Here are the tasks:
Read to Self
Read to Someone
Listen to Reading
Work on Writing
Word Work
If you don't own a copy run over to Amazon and get it, you will not regret it!! This is the first year I have implemented it in my classroom and I don't know how I did reading groups without it!!

My favorite purchase this year! Book boxes from Really Good Stuff! |
Not only do I love the bright colors but they all have a built in wing to stabilize when they have big or heavy books in their box! |

So, this post was inspired by the fact that we are now adding Daily 5 Math and I am sooo excited, but also kinda clueless. Does anyone have any great ideas to tips to share about D5 Math?
Have a great week,
Mandi
Hi Mandi! I love, love, love Daily 5 too! I have used it for three years now. I am going to implement D5 Math next year for sure. I currently use math tubs, but want to implement a bit more independence. I was blessed to see the sisters last year in San Antonio. WOW! I love them. :)
